Words I Lead By
Quote:
"I was born to make mistakes, not to fake perfection" - DrakeĀ
Explanation:
Connection to Leadership Style
This quote is one of my most impactful sentence on what it takes to be a great leader. It serves as a reminder that development is gained through actual experiences, not pretending it all comes easily. In the early part of the semester, I was very strict with myself on doing everything correctly and not making mistakes. Yet, through this course, I learned mistakes are not indicators of failure. They are chances to learn, reflect, and improve.
Why I Chose It
I used this quote because it speaks directly to my leadership development. During times like doing the Baking Challenge or helping out at my temple, I did things that were less than perfect. Those times, though, helped hone my emotional intelligence and understand how to handle other humans with honesty and empathy. Leadership is never copying someone for better, it is becoming yourself, taking responsibility, and learning from all of those experiences. One main factor that heavily impacts me is the fact that all rappers always produce 50-100 songs and only choose 1-2 out of it to actually pursue. This shows that dedication which is a major feature of leadership. Drake isn't perfect and his team and him always have to go through many songs to produce a song thats near perfect for everyone to listen to. This reflects on his quote as everyone is born to make mistakes not fake perfection.
